Please help me with my nursing project on MS

Hello everyone,

I am a nursing student who will be graduating in May with my ADN to be a RN. This semester we have two case studies to do on a disease of our choice. For my first one I selected MS as I know the basics of it, but don't know a lot of in depth information. I have a SIL who has MS as well, but again I really don't know a lot.

I would love it of you could help with some information and good resources as the internet is full of bad information I thought that the best place to start would be with those who deal with it daily.

There are some questions I have not found the answers to, primary if MS causes changes in vital signs such as pulse, respiration, or blood pressure. I understand that there is a large array of symptoms and it varies between people as to how they are affected. If you guys have any recommendations for articles that are recent and give good information as well that would be great. I have been doing research and have found quite a few articles that are good so far, but when I do a project I like to really get in and understand it from all angles if I can, especially the patients because this allows nurses to better treat their patients if they can understand how it really affects their daily lives.

Thank you all for your time and reading this, any input is very appreciated.

Welcome to ThisIsMS, Nicole. I think you will find many of us here are willing to help you in any way we can. If you can state your questions very clearly and precisely, I think the chance is very good that one or more of us will respond.

As for article recommendations, we post items of interest as we find them. Squiffy2 is especially conscientious about such postings.

I am impressed with your drive to understand and treat patients in the best way possible. Your effort and interest is very appreciated; all the best to you. I see great success for you!
My hypothesis: excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia) plays a major role in MS, as developed in my initial post: "Insulin – Could This Be the Key?"

Thank you for your reply. :D

I truly believe for any medical workers to successfully treat a patient they need to understand how the disease process works and how it affects lives. For example, telling someone with an acute exacerbation of MS that exercising a lot daily will help... probably not ideal! It might help... but probably isn't plausible so in saying that, you're really not helping the patient at all.
