Hey guys I'm new here, unfortunately, I do not have an appt. until March, so in the meantime. I would just like to know what others think of my symptoms/story.

Around July of 2012 i started getting very dizzy and losing my balance anytime I would get hot. Along with getting hot, I noticed I was always feeling tired, no matter how much sleep i was getting.

Fast forward to October, I'm in College, so during class, I start getting really dizzy out of nowhere, to the point where it's hard for me to keep my balance when I walk. While I was in class it was also hard for me to catch my breath and swallow. This would last for maybe 20 minutes a couple of times a week.

Now around the middle of January, I woke up with terrible pain in my right knee, almost like I had tore an ACL or something. It was hard for me to walk on it, and about 2 days later, my hip started hurting as well.

The very next weekend I woke up extremely tired, weak, and dizzy, to the point where it was really tough to walk up and down stairs, because I was not only dizzy, but my legs were very weak too. This is how I've been feeling for almost three weeks, some days are worse than others, but I'm always somewhat dizzy/lose balance, and my legs always feel somewhat weak. Some days I don't even feel like I slept, I just have so much fatigue.

When it gets really bad, I feel so weird. Along with the dizziness/balance issues, I also feel confused, like I'm high on some drug and a lot of pressure in my head. I also get really depressed. My eyesight gets worse too.

Some other things I experience (not all at once) is: Cold/Wet feeling on patches of my skin, Twitching/Spasm of my muscles, especially when I'm laying down, tremors, Needle sensations down my arms and legs, and Erectile Dysfunction.

One last thing is if I take too hot of a shower, I have to lay down for about 20 minutes because it gives me all the feelings I mentioned above.

-Sorry if this is long, I just wanted to share my experience.

Welcome to ThisIsMS, eric. The problem with MS is the symptoms are common to many other conditions. Your doctor will have to rule out the other possibilities.

Before MRI and other sophisticated testing was available, doctors based an MS diagnosis on symptoms and if the patient's symptoms worsened after a hot bath.

My suspicion is on insulin; excess insulin (and the resulting insulin resistance in skeletal and smooth muscles) can cause many symptoms. If you are still in college, can you request a "fasting blood insulin test" through the college health center?

My hypothesis: excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia) plays a major role in MS, as developed in my initial post: http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-discussion-f1/topic1878.html "Insulin – Could This Be the Key?"
