Hi,

I often notice when I have a cold my MS symptoms are at a minimum. Does anyone else notice this? Is this possible due to my immune system focusing on fighting the cold rather than attacking myelin?

When my wife has a cold, especially a fever, it makes her symptoms worse.

I used to always feel better with a cold (less fatigue) but now I have had an attack of ON my cold seems to make those symptoms a bit more noticeable. I do feel though that the MS quietens down during the cold but after it it seems to get worse again.

just getting over a sinus infection and i noticed the opposite to be true. i haven't had coordination issues in quite awhile but similar to those tests they make you do where you have to touch the docs finger and then back to your nose, i found that in the days before i started the antibiotics i had difficulty with this. it always coincides with fatigue and i definitely had more of that too. since starting the antibiotics i feel better and my coordination is better but i have lingering fatigue. from a sinus infection standpoint i feel almost 100% although my symptoms were atypical to begin with (swollen cheek, pain in upper jaw/teeth, no fever, minimal nasal symptoms). this is my first round of antibiotics for an infection since diagnosis and i would say that being ill causes my symptoms to increase and for me to feel overall MS-y even without a fever.

What usually happens is, MS person when catches cold develops new symptoms of MS during this phase and regular problems often worsens which holds on after a while, as in they usually do improve but recovery can be quite slow. It's good that the opposite is happening with you. But that could be a co-incidence, i don't think the immune system works oppositely during feverish conditions.

Have never been a sickly person and have only had two colds since 1996 when I was diagnosed. Symptoms were basically the same when I had the cold. I think my body is busy dealing with this "MS" thing.
