Antioxidant drug may treat multiple sclerosis

Post by MSUK »

An antioxidant designed by scientists more than 12 years ago to fight damage within human cells can treat symptoms in mice that have a multiple sclerosis-like disease, a new study led by an Indian-origin researcher has found.

The antioxidant - called MitoQ - has shown some promise in fighting neurodegenerative diseases. But this is the first time it has been shown to significantly reverse an MS-like disease in an animal.......... Read More - http://www.ms-uk.org/emergingtherapies

Thanks for that link. I have been taking antioxidants and incorporating more in my diet for the past few years. Although it isn't the one referred to in the article, I think they seem to help overall.

Not to sound like a broken record but there have been many medications that have stopped, reversed and repaired the EAE model in mice....and none of them over the years have done anything for human MS. EAE is not the same as human MS yet we continue to hear of promising discoveries in this area which end up proving fruitless when tried on MS patients. Sure hope this one is different but I won't hold my breath.

Antioxidants come from eating fruits and vegetables. Best to get them naturally. I do not trust the drug companies. They are after our money and do not want us to get well.
