Medical Excuse from jury duty in Oregon?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Medical Excuse from jury duty in Oregon?

Post by selkie »

Hello All,

I moved to Oregon about a year ago. I've had MS for over 12 years & experience lots of symptoms, extreme nerve pain & muscle spasms, cognitive problems moderate & higher, perceptual problems, dizziness, foot drag, difficulty walking, coordination problems (run into walls, drop things), mind numbing fatigue, bladder control problems, & etc.

Where I lived before the courts granted me a permanent excuse from serving. And altough my doctor wrote me an excuse which I mailed in with my letter, the doctor's nurse told me, "I don't know if they'll excuse you." She also seemed to have her doubts that I should serve in spite of my disabilities. Was she just being thoughtless, or had she seen patients denied before? I don't know anyone here, so have no one to ask...

Anyone have experience with Oregon courts? Were you excused with a doctor's letter? Am feeling a major panic attack coming on should I have to serve. 8O

Thanks so much for your guidance!! selkie
