Thank you again, everyone, for your replies. As I looked over them just now it made me feel better to know that all that I have been experiencing seems pretty "normal" with steroids-from insomnia to moodiness to blood sugar levels, etc. And they just kill my stomach-but Pepcid helps. And the steroids do seem to be helping the flare up. Clancy-just to let you know, the taper is 60 mg one week then 50 mg one week then 40 for a few days then 30, 20, 10 then 5 for a few more days. So about a total of 3 weeks.

As I talk with other people it also makes me feel a little better to know that steroids are used for lots of conditions, to help reduce inflammation. I appreciate everyone's help!
