Amantadine

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

I took 100mg of amantadine yesterday morning at 10am.
Last night I woke at 2am and could not sleep at all. I was drenched in sweat and roasting - normally I am freezing cold. I wonder did the amantadine cause this (I see sweating is listed as a side effect) but surely it wouldn't have done this after one dose? I don't have a fever. Anyone else have anything similar?

Hi WW-
Sounds to me like you're describing a hormonal hot flash...not sure if amantadine would do that?

8O Eek! I hope not, I'm only 36, although it's possible.

I visited my Mum yesterday and she noticed I was talking way too fast and worrying about everything - she thought I was in an odd mood, so it's possible the Amantadine revved me up. As today wore on I felt calmer and calmer again, the nervous feeling went. I'm going to leave it a few days and try it again, and if the same thing happens I think it looks like Amantadine.

Amantadine experience

Post by mormiles »

My husband has been taking Amantadine for 2 years. The only difference I can report is that it is very effective at undermining Type A flu infections. The flu starts, but it never seems to get off the ground. Amantadine has made no difference in fatigue or energy level.
