No, local organic and sustainable farms usually do not use irradiation...but if you have any questions, LR, ask your grocer for info.

The interesting thing is that the docs claim at the end of the article the effect of irradiation was "species specific." Like unpaired, free radical electrons won't hurt humans, only cats. ???? 8O

Here is an article regarding the research, which questions the safety of irradiated food for humans...
However, not everyone agrees irradiated food is fine for humans or animals. According to the Center for Food Safety, studies have shown irradiation produces volatile toxic chemicals such as benzene and toluene, which are known or suspected to cause cancer and birth defects. A 2001 study found an association between colon tumors and 2-alkylcyclobutanones (2-ACB's), a new chemical compound detected only in foods that have been irradiated.

You know, I picked up on that part of the article right away. I've been meaning to go back and learn exactly what these foods are irradiated with.
