Hi fellow MSers,
Happy new year to u all,may God the almighty fulfills all your dreams n wishes in 2010.I m writing this with a lots of hope before going to the doctor.I had two attacks of vertigo once, with and without vomiting two three yeas before i was dx MS.I have balance problem along with others like walking, bladder etc.Could it be because of fluid issue in the ear ( which causes vertigo) ?Should i approch an ENT doctor or places specializing in treating vertigo ?

Regards,
Bibek

Well, vertigo is a common symptom of MS. I don't think it'll hurt to see an ENT to maybe see if fluid in the ears is the cause. If it is, than great! Maybe you can get some relief. If not, I don't see how seeing a specialist would hurt. If it's just the crappy vertigo that's caused by MS, maybe the specialist can offer some tips on coping with it or making the symptoms feel less severe.

I had severe vertigo once, it was horrible. I wish you the best and Happy New Year to you too.

@ Bibek
Vitamin B6 (esp the P5P form) has proved very helpful in MS and in vertigo/meniere's--one of the mechanisms is getting rid of excess fluid, but it also helps in nerve transmissions, repair. Only artcle I could quickly access is the link: http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/treat/T46065.html (check under meniere's disease, and under MS--the MS links you to an explanation of Dr Klenner's protocol--excellent for MS--)

but there is much out there if you do an internet search.

GOING to see an ENT was what came before my diagnoses of MS...they should have already run test(s) on you to r/o an inner ear issue...it would be worth a try...just as a rule out type thing...good luck to you!!!

vertigo/dizziness often causing nausea and vomitting is a symptom of MS which often can be quite severe. It's landed me in hospital on several occasions. Starting interferon seems to have put a stop to that type of disabling attack (unfortunately it hasn't stopped the rest :( )

Has anyone had any problems with Psoriasis since being dx with MS?, on their head, with severe itching off and on - just wondering if there was a connection at all with iron deposits in the brain and the venous blockages (CCSVI) that might be linked or cause this problem in someone with MS.

I just saw an ent about my vertigo, and he doesnt think its anything to do with my ears...he believes it probably is ms, but he's doing another mri to make sure i dont have an acoustic neuroma.
My family dr tried me of serc which is a drug that helps with the vertigo you can have from Ménière's. It did help a bit with the vertigo but made me sick to my stomach and my headaches worse...
I have a feeling it will probably be the ent to find out what is wrong with me. The last one I saw found my tumor and my hiatus hernia...
