H pylori and C jejuni are known to be present in GBS and motor neuropathies a fair amount of the time. It is thought to cause molecular mimicry. it has been found that porphyrins accumulate in these bacteria, maybe this would be the true cause behind this autoimmune response. Perhaps the increase in autoimmune disease incidence correlates with the increase of H pylori. Perhaps the molecular mimicry is caused by the excess porphyrin accumulation. Perhaps this manifestation would only be triggered in latent porphyrics. perhaps this pertains to MSers too. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC174033/
