Still anxiously awaiting my MS diagnosis!

Post by sweett23 »

Hello all,

I am new here to TIMS and I've found it to be really helpful so far. It's nice to have a place to come to where people really understand what you're going through.

I am 38 years old, married and mother of 2. I am a registered nurse and have been for 16 years. My whole MS journey started only 2 months ago when I woke up with double vision, blurred vision and dizziness. And headaches too. I went to see my eye Dr who sent me for ct scan and mri. He feared I had an aneurysmn. Well I didn't have an aneurysmn but they found some lesions on my brain mri that looked like MS. So from there I saw the neuro who took down my history and did his little exam and looked at my mri and also said it looked like MS. I just had a spinal tap this past Friday so now I wait till the 17th to see him again and find out what it shows. This waiting game is so nerve wrecking!

I have had over the course of 2 months other symptoms too. Right side weakness that comes and goes, numbness and tingling in my right foot, leg, hand and arm. Burning sensations on the left side of my face. Burning headaches on the left side. Numb tounge! Difficulty with balance although that has been a problem for years due to being stabbed and my spinal cord being nicked. I also have peripheral neuropathy on my left side from that injury too. I have been taking neurontin for that for years. But this other stuff is new. I also have bladder problems, fatigue and forgetfulness. It all seems better now except for the burning sensations in my face, the numbness and tingling on my right side and the bladder problems. They are some better though although still there.

My husband is in denial about the whole thing but I feel I pretty much know its MS. Also worth mentioning is my brother has MS too. He's only had it for 7 years and now he needs a wheelchair! That's sad and scary for me to think about.

Well I just wanted to introduce myself and share my story thus far. Maybe the spinal tap will provide the answers. I should know soon. If anyone has any advice about treatments if it comes to that please let me know. This is all so new and actually frightening for me.

Thanks for listening!
