Hello everyone -

I was just diagnosed in January 2006 and already experienced my first relapse. I do have lots of questions and hope that someone can help clarify a few for me. The put me on avonex immediately, which i stayed on until the last month. I went through my first relapse - went through the five days of solumedrol and WOW - wasn't expecting the withdrawals that I had. They must have forgotten about that. I finished up with the round of that around the 8th of May, but NOW i feel like i have gained 20 lbs. Anyone know anything about that??? Will I get back to normal?? So because i was feeling so bad with the solumedrol, i didn't take my avonex that week. Then after not being on the avonex for over a week, realized how bad i was feeling on it. I feel great now, but i do realize that i need to be on something. So my neuro offered copaxone, which i am not on yet, but seriously considering. Can anyone offer anything positive? Or tell me what to really expect???? Please. Thanks for listening and hope soemone can help!!! :D

hi kelly welcome! i was dxd in jan also but am still recovering from my first attack and haven't taken any drugs, so you are way more experienced than i already! i imagine you will have been reading in the copaxone forum, and will find all kinds of helpful info from the folks there :D

when you say you feel like you gained weight, do you mean you're bloated, or you're kind of dragging yourself around a bit? i definitely had lead-legs (or 'jimmylegs' if you will) for a while at the beginning and i'm SO much better now so i hope that is encouraging. there really is no more jimmy about my legs at all :D
