MS and Crohn's Disease

Post by Madeleine »

Hi - I'm new to this site. Am very interested in hearing from anyone with both MS and Crohn's. I'll be starting on Tysabri March 1, so also very interested in your stores re: Tysabri!

Was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about 30 years ago and with MS in 1991. MS has been relatively 'benign', but have had about 39" intestine removed in 1988. Currently on 6MP and sulfasalizate for that, but nothing yet for MS. Expect I'll stay on the CD drugs for a period while on Tysabri, then might try to wean off of those.

I'm very very hopeful that Tysabri can deliver a knock-out punch on these two diseases!

Would love to hear from you.

Hi Madeleine,

Welcome to the site! It's wonderful to have you with us. As you've noted, Tysabri holds strong promise in both MS and CD, so we will cross our fingers that you can get a two for one deal :)

I've had MS for about 14 years and I think it may be getting worse. I think I have Crohns but can't get a doc to diagnose it. I've had 3 colonoscopies. 2 cat scans and 2 upper GIs in the last 7-8 years but they see nothing. My GI symptoms are very bad right now but can't distinguish from MS sometimes, especially just feeling bad all over. I need to go right now but I'd love to talk to you more. I'm new at this site, too. I read MS sites for a while sometimes but get too involved and crazy. I do better when I ignore them. I like this one for now. I live in New Mexico, the medical armpit of the country. I haven't found any good docs at all, if there is such a thing.
