Good morning

This is my first time using this site and I am very pleased at having discovered this site this morning.

I have used a nickname 'Jezebel' which is in fact my cat's name because my real name is Pat and that was already taken.

My question is about Avonex and weight gain.

I have been on Avonex since February and in taht time have put on two stones in weight. I cannot shift the weight and I am finding it very uncomfortable. One real problem which is distressing is that it is caucing me to snore and wake myself up at night.

Does Avonex cause weight gain? If it does I will seriously consider coming off of it.

I can cope with teh fat around my miiddle but teh fat around my throat is causing breathing problems.

I've actually lost weight since I've been on Avonex. However, Lyon's suggestion to get your thyroid hormone levels checked is a good one. I had mine checked since I've lost a bit of hair over the years, but my levels checked out OK.
