Here is my guess: the OIL of oregano coats the inside the small intestine and limits the absorption of insulin. I suspect that OILY fish, fish OIL capsules, cod liver OIL, olive OIL, avocados – probably oil in any form – does the same. People have been misled to reduce the amount of fats or oil in the diet. Fat and protein are the only two macronutrients necessary for healthy life; carbohydrates are NOT necessary.
To continue, I suspect the oil protects the villi in the intestine from the caustic insulin. If the insulin has reduced absorption and is isolated from cells, the cells will turn to lipids (fats and oil) for their energy source. The excess insulin has caused the cells to be insulin resistant (not allowing insulin to ferry glucose into the cells as the energy source. Perhaps your renewed energy results from cells (starved of energy from glucose) now getting energy from burning the fats (alternate fuel source).
These are MY thoughts and are shared by NO ONE in conventional medicine that I have found. Just sharing my unconventional ideas again.
My hypothesis: excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia) plays a major role in MS, as developed in my initial post: http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-discussion-f1/topic1878.html "Insulin – Could This Be the Key?"
