Tecfidera and Lymphopenia

Hello everyone,

I've had rather stable MS since being diagnosed 14 years ago (initial severe exacerbation followed by a few minor relapses after the births of my two kids). Previous drugs were Rebif, Betaseron and Copaxone. The interferons destroyed my thyroid and the Copaxone went well for 3 years before giving me several episodes of the dreaded pseudo-heart attack syndrome.

I went on Tecfidera shortly after it was approved in 2013 and it has been ...

First Month on Tecfidera Going Suspiciously Well...

I'm in my third week of my first month of tec and things are going.... really good? I haven't had any side effects at all; no nausea, no flushing, no anything. I very strictly followed LadyMac's 'guideline' for taking tec for all of like, the first pill. and then I slacked off and did whatever/ate whatever and absolutely nothing changed. I've been taking the medicine on schedule once in the morning and once at night, ...

Tecfidera ‘could be increasing B-cells’

Recent studies have shown that Tecfidera decreased certain immune cells, of both B-, and T-cell type in MS patients. Studies have also indicated that this class of drugs affects the signalling through IL-10, a key regulator of immune responses. This anti-inflammatory cytokine is most often released by regulatory B-, and T-cells (Bregs/Tregs)...Read more - http://www.ms-uk.org/MSnews

Flushing and makeup

3 months in on Tec and the flushing is still daily. If the 6 month check-up MRI shows nothing new, I can survive getting a bit red from time to time.

The problem is that the heat of the flushings are ruening my makeup, the foundation(ID bare minerals powder) kindoff separates from the skinn and gathers in spots on the face. I am not very vain but I would like to be able to wear ...

Choosing Meds - Insurance Issues?

Hey! I was recently diagnosed with RRMS and given three different beginning drug choices. Tecfidera, Gilenya, and Copaxone. I was told that my insurance (Fidelis Medicaid) would fully cover the Copaxone, but that they don't currently cover either Gilenya or Tecfidera. However, the neuro resident I met with concerning the med information was very confident that although they would decline covering the medication a first time, so long as they re-submitted it a second time ...

One month on Tec

Hi,
I have now been using tecfidera for one month. This is my first drug against MS, actually my first drug ever not counting the occasional antibiotic.
1 week on the low dose and three on full dose, these are my experiences.

First week on tec I got some flushing. It varied from mild blush to full-scale tomato woman. The flushing lasted about an hour every time. I had a mild nausea, nothing that I ...
