**IMPORTANT** PML & Tecfidera

I can't help it...I need to know that others are seeing this, too, especially if you are JC-Virus positive, and are currently taking Tecfidera. This is an excellent article!

Joint Pain

Hi everyone, new to the board but not MS. I had been taking Copaxone since I was diagnosed in 2006. But I've recently began taking Tecfidera twice a day. I've had some flushing in the beginning and I learned to take the meds w food. Otherwise I will have terrible stomach pain. But my main issue seems to be this joint pain. I've never had it before but maybe a month into taking this I ...

Low CD8+ T cell counts found with MS drug Tecfidera

A recent study found that patients taking dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera) had low counts of CD8+ T cells, though their overall levels of lymphocytes were within the normal range. The findings suggest that doctors may want to monitor specific lymphocyte levels in addition to doing full blood cell counts.

In November 2014, Biogen Idec confirmed its first case of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare brain infection, in a patient taking dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera), and complications ...

Problems I wonder if anyone has encountered.

I recently was diagnosed with MS in March of 2014. Of course with my luck, the week I went blind in my left eye every neuro-opthalmologist happened to be on a convention, so for a whole week i was tossed around to 5 different eye doctors, then finally me being in the medical field & worried I had a tumor behind my eye, asked the last doctor for a referral for an MRI on my ...

FDA adds rare brain infection link to Tecfidera label

FDA adds rare brain infection link to MS drug Tecfidera labelling

The death from a serious brain infection of a patient taking Biogen Idec's big-selling oral multiple sclerosis therapy Tecfidera has prompted an update to the drug's label in the US.

The FDA issued a notice describing the case of a patient on Tecfidera (dimethyl fumarate) who developed progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), the same condition that caused Biogen Idec's injectable MS therapy Tysabri (natalizumab) to ...

Tecfidera or flare-up?

I am on week three of Tecfidera. Two nights ago, I started noticing an area above my right knee on my inner thigh that was burning (like the feeling of someone holding a lit match next to my skin). This sensation isn't new to me but it is new while being on medication (never had this while I was on Tysabri). The area has now become bigger so now the sensation is on most of ...

Copaxone to Tec

I have been on Copaxone for almost 2 years, along with many other lifestyle changes and i have noticed a reduction in relapses and general well being. I go to the gym regularly following various power-lifting routines and have gained 17lbs in a year, mostly muscle, and that is an issue... My bodyfat is 10% and I can no longer inject in my arms or legs which makes the little bit of fat around my ...

Nervous about starting Tecfidera

I finally got my Tecfidera starter pack after over a month of waiting. I plan to start it tomorrow or Monday, but I am a little nervous. I will be traveling to Peru next month for Christmas - which gives me about 6 weeks to be on the medication before I go. I'm worried the side effects won't have diminished by then and have been considering waiting until I get back from my trip to ...
