Re: before your diagnosis

I remember getting labs to check my B12 level, as if a deficiency could mimic MS. Lyme disease is another thing I think is usually ruled out.

Re: prednisone question

Jimmy, what title does a person have who does what you do, a nutritionist? I try to read and understand the best I can but there are so many factors to consider. Like you said regarding the Mega D I'm taking, it should be taken with other vitamins. What a body needs nutritionally probably changes, t...

Re: prednisone question

Good morning, Jimmy! My breakfast this morning will be salmon, broccoli, half a banana and an ounce of almonds, with a glass of orange juice, wait 20 minutes and go for my bike ride on this beautiful So Cal morning. There weren't many replies on this board to it but did you ever watch the You Tube v...

Re: provigil for fatigue study showed no improvement in fati

Provigil "amped" me up but I'd still be yawning. I would feel like a car with the accelerator pedal stuck down but brakes on. Not fun. Stopped taking it.

Re: smoking - no smoking

Growing up in the 1960s and 70s my brother and I on car trips with our parents were subject to both smoking and windows rolled up. When we complained, dad turned on the air conditioning, which blew it all to us in the back seat. Both parents died of lung cancer. My brother never smoked (smart). I ha...

Re: prednisone question

Cure or bust, thank you so much for finding these references. Waking up this morning after a DECENT NIGHTS' SLEEP seems to be a magic bullet in many ways. I think I remember receiving something with the IV Solu-Medrol for stomach protection. If this once monthly 500 mg prednisone is in fact correct,...

Re: prednisone question

Yea, I know with IV infusion it's measured in grams.

I remember being told in 2007 that 50 mg of oral prednisone is a pretty high dose. It appears I was prescribed to take ten 50-mg prednisone pills all at once, once a month.

Re: prednisone question

I'm having some new weakness of my left leg, probably some suspicion of a step down in my MS overall and steroids in an effort to beat it back. I know in IV form, the steroids end up being measured in grams, high dose stuff but infused slowly over time. I'm just really worried about this. I'm having...

prednisone question

My neuro gave me a prescription for dexamethasone 4 mg, 3 tabs daily for 2 days, 2 daily for 2 days, then 1 daily for 2 days. Repeat in 4-6 weeks. My stomach couldn't handle it and threw it up. Her office called me and they phoned in a Rx for prednisone 50 mg tabs, to take 500 mg all at once, once a...

Re: Restless Legs All Over?

I also take something named Mega-D3 made by Schiff - vitamin D3 (as cholcecalciferol) 5000 IU - and it has red wine complex blend 200 mg, which I think is probably antioxidant in nature. It includes resveratrol. The mag glycinate (made by KAL) says magnesium (as magnesium glycinate) 400 mg. Other in...

Re: Restless Legs All Over?

Jimmy, I found mag glycinate at a Vitamin Shoppe. Interesting, it was the only form that was sold out, with the last bottle for me :) Each tab is 400 mg, take one twice a day. Does that sound like the right milligram amount? Is it known to upset the stomach? I have been enjoying the epsom salts bath...

Re: Restless Legs All Over?

I found an article searching this site from you, Jimmy, and I bought pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Can't hurt as long as I don't choke on 'em.

Thanks

Re: Restless Legs All Over?

I see the word dopaminergic in there. Quitting smoking disturbs some process with dopamine until the brain gets back in gear. Not scientific but it's something about dopamine reuptake. It's interesting the restless legs and escalation to whole body happened after quitting. The Wellbutrin chemically ...

Restless Legs All Over?

I will ask my neurologist Tuesday about this. I'm pretty sure I have restless leg syndrome which is getting worse. It seems to be happening all over my body now, in joints, I have to move my arms just like my legs to stop a jittery feeling. I don't know if this is MS related or not. It's a big part ...

Wellbutrin and Melatonin

I stopped smoking about 2 months ago and was given Wellbutrin for depression last week 100 mg twice a day. It has worked for depression but is "speedy" and makes me feel weak and difficult to sleep at night. I take one at 7 am and one at 1 pm. I feel better before taking the morning pill s...
