As usual with this disease what looks like a promising avenue turns out not to be as promising as initially thought - see attached article from the BBC website:

Seems like this is only a problem in the U.S., isn't it? Can't other countries can still move on with stem cell research, using newer lines that were never exposed to animal cells?
