If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

ticklish?

Post by whyRwehere »

I never thought to ask, but now I am curious. When I met my husband he was very ticklish, but he has lost that with his MS, has anyone else?

I have never been ticklish. I always thought it was a little odd.

Yes, just like your husband, I lost all ticklishness with my MS. Which isn't a bad thing I suppose...

i'm very ticklish. but not on the bottom of my feet. they are extremely sensitive. I can hardly take for anyone or anything other than shoes to touch them. Lately they have really been hurting, not to mention the burning that I have had since dx.

Oddly, he only wants to wear cotton socks; he find wool too hot, and other fibres bother him, and yet he is not ticklish

I an not as ticklish as I once was. Strange that I never thought about it before.

I can't stand shoes or socks touching my feet. I wear flip flops almost everyday. If I wear other shoes, closed toed, they are the mules with not back so I can get my feet out of them quickly.

I lost my ticklishness with my ms. It's gone everywhere. Even my feet aren't ticklish any more.

I don't miss it though. The ONLY thing I don't miss.

Yep, I've lost my ticklishness too. It frustrates my husband to no end, and I love to gloat about it.

Sometimes if I'm caught by surprised I'll jump, but I think that's more psychological. If he continues to tickle after that, it has no effect.

Punchy,

If I get caught by surprise I am very jumpy. Heart racing jumpy. I was never like this before MS.

Catfreak,
I know what you mean, my husband over reacts to everything. And if I surprise him, he doesn't feel amused. If you have to wake him, to tell him to go to bed, he looks like you just told him the house was on fire.

wrwh,

I also don't find it amusing to be startled. It actually pissed me off big time and I don't like to be woke up either. I sound a lot like your hubby.

Isn't it funny, they do the MRI, the lumbar puncture, the waiting till you suffer many attacks, in order to say you have MS. The new test should be, "have you lost your tickle? Do you go very red in the head and chest after exercise?" Just for fun.....
