The National Institute of Standards and Technology has voted unanimously to revise the symbol for the coulomb. The coulomb is the SI derived unit for electric charge when a current of one amp flows past a point in a conductor for one second, C = A · s using the old nomenclature or 6.24151 × 10^18 electrons. The new symbol for the coulomb, based on the greek letter omega used for the ohm, is shown below.
