can no longer tolerate magnesium

I read about all the wonderful benefits of magnesium, how safe it is, how good it is for MS, etc. A few years back, I could take it with no problems. Indeed, it did make me feel better. Now, I can't handle it at all. I took some today for the first time in several months because I felt a little stiff in places. I just wanted to sleep all day. I had no energy. I feel like a bag is tied over my head. I feel dizzy, lightheaded, and generally very light on my feet. I feel my legs walking under me, but I get a weird sensation, kind of like being on an airport moving sidewalk, like I am holding my breath for too long. I have low blood pressure to begin with, and I think it may be because it lowers my BP even more. I just take a single 400mg dose. Any thoughts? Have I created some imbalance perhaps?

I had a bad experience taking a high dose of magnesium, 800 mg/day for a week. It had a large negative impact on my leg muscle strength.

I now take 200 mg of MgCitrate in the morning and take my vitamin D3 in the evening. This schedule seems to help minimize the leg cramps from the D3.
