Re: Side effects

Fifer44, I hope you are feeling better. Your weight may not be as important as having the food for the absorption of the medication which will minimize and in some people eliminate the side effects altogether. With that said, By the end of the 2nd month many of us were able to pull back on the break...

Re: New here,possible MS diagnosis

Hi tom88, Any doctor that charged me to give me a copy of the test he just did on me I would fire. It's one thing having to pay to get a copy of all your medical records, but not to have a copy of the test he just did. That's why I always ask at my visit for a copy of that test and office notes. I k...

Re: this doctor loves telling people they have ms

Hi there. My spinal tap didn't show any bands either, however my MRI read like yours. With that being said, you can and should get a second opinion. Make sure you get all your films on CD/DVD and your printed results on everything for your consult. Do you have any MRI's from the past, no matter how ...

Re: Side effects

I am new and just registered so I could post my experience. I stated the meds on Aug 20 and as of this past Friday I was told to stop taking them after I came out in a rush (hive like) and have unbelievable itching. I had some itching or a prickly sensation followed by flushing in the beginning but...

Re: Tecfidera

Rivahnurse, Sorry you had such a rough time. Your reaction has been described by many people. I have not heard from anyone who adopted the suggestions in a thread on this site I started who was not helped with taking Tecfidera. I am not a nurse. Most of us started in April or May and have had signif...

Re: Tecfidera

Hi Jimpsull, So glad you are still at it. Around the end of my second month going into the 3rd I noticed that my brain was willing to have me do stuff but my body was weak. I came about that I knew that I needed some reconditioning. I'm 55 and I can tell you if you can find a water aerobics class (g...

Re: How do your MS flares start?

Thanks BadKitty. He hasn't given special instructions. I made an appt with him this next week. You needed a nurse to help figure it out? What happened with that flare? Hello. BadKitty answer is spot on, they are all different. In the first few years I needed help figuring out. Now I pretty much kno...

Re: Blurry vision on Tecfidera?

Welcome dstanner, Yes, in the beginning a I had a few bouts of star bursts in my eye sight. That part did settle down. Have you checked your BP? I always had it when I was up and walking around. I would lay down for a bit and make sure I was staying hydrated and it would go away. Please let your Neu...

Re: Looking for others on Tecfidera Now diagonosed with ANEM

From what I remember, a Hemolytic anemia can cause fever. I recently had my CBC which was WNL. Your doctor should give you more information or send you to a Hematologist. Since is a new medication, all side effects/unexpected reactions should be looked at carefully. Good luck. Hi there, Hope you ar...

Re: Looking for others on Tecfidera Now diagonosed with ANEM

We don't have any data that says that BG12 depletes glutathione. How about this... Fumarates improve psoriasis and multiple sclerosis by inducing type II dendritic cells. J Exp Med. 2011 Oct 24;208(11):2291-303. Epub 2011 Oct 10. Fumarates improve multiple sclerosis (MS) and psoriasis, two diseases...

Re: Looking for others on Tecfidera Now diagonosed with ANEM

Ladymac, Upon further investigation, it seems the glutathione depletion is just one phase of bg12's (which is dmf) action. It depletes intracellular gsh causing an anti-inflammatory reaction and then it increases it. http://www.nature.com/jid/journal/v127/n4/full/5700686a.html. There are also paper...
