David, I can tell you I'm not gonna click on that link cause the very name of the video kind of fills me with dread. So, yeah, not gonna watch that. But as far as putting a bullet in your head goes, pm me if you're ever serious about that. I've been there, but I'm not there, and I have some good rea...

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
Expert work spotting an obvious exaggeration. She eats A LOT of coconut fat. And by all accounts she’s done really well following her program.ElliotB wrote:"Wahls lives off of little but coconut oil, milk and cream which are 84% saturated fat"
This is simply not true, sorry.

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
McDougall et al say animal fats turn into autoantibodies that can cross the BBB and attack neural tissue. No fatty acid molecule, which is a hydrocarbon with a carboxylic acid at one end, is going to transform into an antibody which is a large protein. Bullseye. Rather than having anything to do wi...

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
"Wahls is pro-saturated fat" Where have you read/seen this? Wahls protocol (2014) pg 203-206. Wahls lives off of little but coconut oil, milk and cream which are 84% saturated fat. But she emphasizes the importance of consuming medium chain triglycerides, which are less likely to be oxidi...

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
There is no consensus on this and it is frustrating. Wahls is pro-saturated fat because it is more stable and is less likely to convert to Transfer-fats which are easily oxidized, and she thinks that is the villain. Swank pinned MS progression almost entirely on saturated fat, based on observations ...

Re: Diet quality is associated with disability in MS...
I read this a few days ago and thought it was interesting that those in the highest quintile of diet were still only consuming 3.3 servings of fruits, vegetables, and/or legumes per day. So I (and many others with MS who consume at least 9 cups per day) are going to be off the charts!. I'm still hop...

Re: New to the concept of chronic illness
I’ve been going through different phases of acceptance for the last two years since my dx. I, too, feel healthy but sometimes very scared. Something that helps me is to remember that my situation is still not so different from anyone else’s. Sure, disability could be around any corner, but that was ...

Re: Is Multiple Sclerosis Caused By Emotional Stress?
The harmful effects of stress on the gut and on our circulating catecholamines (activating hormones) and blood glucose/insulin levels could certainly trigger or worsen a relapse (true for me), but I agree that stress cannot be thought of as a CAUSE of MS. I don’t read Mate’s research as suggesting t...
