Re: So, what is the most affordable treatment for MS?

I will second every post so far. I was diagnosed around 84, but had no noticeable symptoms for over 15 years. My experience after that is very similar to lyndacarol, only I wasn't as patient with the length of time on each drug. I did use Betaeron, Avonex, Rebif and Tysabri. Fortunately, I also had ...

Re: Voting..

Leetz,

Your initial comments clearly indicated your strong liberal leanings and your support of Obamcare. Not everyone agrees. I was simply agreeing with Loriyas that this site is about MS, not politics.

It is so true and so sad...

Has anyone heard from Robbie? We exchanged a few pm's last fall and then he stopped responding.

Re: Anne Romney

That comment did raise some eyebrows, especially when the MSM jumped all over it. The remark was made to autoworkers in Detroit to show support. Agreed, the wording could have been better. I think the "port" analogy was suppose to be funny. I think they have two homes (I'm sure everybody is going to...

Re: Newly Diagnosed: Torn between treatment options. Help?

My two cents... I agree with Lyndacarol, if you're up to taking the classes now, go for it! Everyone is different. I didn't do anything for the first 15 years after my diagnosis (I believe it's called denial). I had no symptoms. I think my downfall was a combination of a very stressful job and a ver...

Re: Co Enzyme Q10

I've been taking 200 mg. every day for quite a few years. I read about it years ago and it was confirmed by Wahls. It does increase energy, but it also aids in cell production and supports heart function. I switched about a year ago to a high absorption CoQ-10. I do notice a difference when I forget...

Re: does ms run in families

baffled,

I have three siblings, 12 aunts and uncles (from both parents, not by marriage) and many cousins.

To my knowledge, I am the only one with MS...it very well could run in families, not just mine.

Re: Ampyra Vs Compounded 4-AP?

My neuro suggested 4-AP back in 2005, I have been on it ever since. I tried Ampyra when it first came out and switched back to the 4-AP within a week. I do take a stronger dose (15mg.). I've been on that strength for about five years. Although my insurance would cover it, Ampyra was willing to lower...

Re: Just got out of meeting with dr burt, and now have decis

shucks, Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge to impart as it relates to the trial, but I'll offer my two cents about Northwestern. My old neuro was there. The hospital and staff are 1st rate. NW has an outstanding reputation as does Burt; as far as locations go...it is in a prime area of Chicag...

Agreed. Didn't mean to go off track.

Re: A question for US Republicans with MS

Val, I am in total agreement with you as it relates to the NMSS. This organization has been of no value (in my opinion) to anyone with MS. I was aware of Romney's devotion to his wife (childhood sweethearts, etc.), but unaware the Gingrich left his wife due to her diagnosis. I had just heard he was ...

Re: A question for US Republicans with MS

I knew Ann Romney has MS, but it does not make any difference to me.

Val, may I ask you a question? As a democrat, were you disappointed that Michele Obama didn't take up the cause considering she grew up witnessing MS first hand? I was hoping she would, but she did find some worthwhile causes.

Re: Incontinence

I started having that problem; it was then compounded by UTIs (not fun). I recently thought I had an infection but the test proved I did not. I'm seeing a Functional Medicine doctor who previously recommended D-Mannose. I slacked off on taking it, but started back up again after the above incident, ...
