Interferons better than originally thought?
Hi Guys, I had my 6 monthly neuro appt yesterday. Nothing very exciting really but he told me that interferons seem to be much more effective than originally thought. Obviously i think this is a great thing to hear but have any of you heard this too? He didn't mention any research or how he came up ...

Appointment with endocrinologist
Hi Everyone, A few months ago i posted because my vit D level was low and my neuro referred me to see an endocrinologist. Well that appointment was this morning. He basically wants me to continue taking 1000iu Vit d but he has ordered me another blood test just to see if that has worked to increase ...

Are there indicators for a good or bad disease course?
Hi Guys, Because i'm obsessed with ms and what may happen in the future i have been wondering if anyone knows if there is anything that may indicate what disease course you may have. I have read in the past that what happens in the first 5 years may be an indicator of what your ms may do in the futu...

Goodness me, so much to take in! 8O It seems that according to one of the articles it's going to take quite a while for my D3 levels to increase to an adequate amount by just taking 1000iu. The regime of 50,000iu's a day for 10 days sounds like something i would much prefer, i'll ask the endo about ...

Thanks Everyone, i'll let you know how the appointment with the endo goes. I don't know when it will be as the neuro needs to refer me and make the appointment. Jimmylegs it's interesting that you mentioned pale skin as a possible good thing to have to be able to absorb vitd3 from the sun. I went to...

Low vit d level and need to see an endocrinologist
Hi Guys, Just wanting some opinions please. I saw my neuro last week for my standard 6 monthly appointment and i asked him to write up a slip to get my vit d levels checked. Well i had the test done and surprise surprise it's low. The neuro phoned me to let me know that the level is 30 and it should...

It never even occured to me that cost would be an issue or a reason not to take meds (if one chooses to of course). I'm in Australia and it costs me $30.00 per month for Avonex. If i was unemployed or on a low income it would cost me $3.00. I'm always wondering if Avonex is actually doing anything f...

Thanks Loobie, I don't get major side effects just very mild flu like symptoms but i can't say that i look forward to injection night or holidays and having to think about Avonex, the constant reminder that i have ms  How would you know if it's messing around with your immune system? I underst...

Why would you NOT take meds?
Hi Guys, From reading posts on other ms forums i get the impression that lots of people who are doing well with their ms choose not to take any of the ms meds and some say that they will wait until they "need" them. I am taking Avonex and i'm well too, i have no symptoms and have only had ...

What is inactive ms exactly?
Hi Everyone, As my main area of reading is now everything to do with ms, i have many times come across terms like active and non active ms. Does anyone know what this means? Is inactive ms just ms that is "asleep" and currently silent and not causing any problems? Is it active when demyeli...

Thanks guys, I do wish that there was some kind of data that showed how people with mild ms may do over the long term, unfortunately with such a ridiculous and unpredictable disease it probably is not going to be possible. I sometimes wonder if ms is really that unpredictable... Now if only i could ...

Do you expect to deteriorate with time?
Hi guys, I have recently been reading some posts on other ms forums and so many people seem to be doing quite badly with their ms. So many different symptoms that they talk about like paralysis of a part of their body, total numbness, loss of bladder/bowel control, extreme fatigue, unable to cope wi...
