Barb,

Thanks for posting about your experience, and for including "tips" and hotel recommendations, etc.

I found it very helpful.

Cordially,

It's a leap of faith you took Chris, that leap is difficult for many to take. For me it's not so much a "leap of faith" question as simply a logistical and cognitive one. Cognitive in the sense that I tend not to make rash decisions, especially medical ones, and thus would rather spend mo...

Ha! Not so fast, BUSTER!!

I wish. I'm in the process of finishing my Ph.D., and, while I will be "ABD" ("All But Dissertation") by the end of the Spring 2009 semester, I'll still spend the 2009-2010 academic year writing and preparing for my defense. So this trip is to gather information, meet the Dr.s, a...

*FINALLY!!* - I have my new appointment dates.

I see Dr. Kerr on July 29th and Dr. Brodsky on August 4th.

I picked summer dates because I will be in school until the end of May.

Thanks, Chris (and everybody else) for encouraging me to be persistent!!

XO,
Me

I know, I know.

I am trying to be patient, but I was starting to despair a bit...

How are you doing, Chris?

It is so nice to "see" you again here on the board.

Progress...possibly.

Ok...I checked in with Mary Brown again today and she was like: "Ohhh..." Apparently I got lost-track-of at some point, which is why nobody ever called me back to reschedule the appointments I had to cancel back in August (due to the need for an emergency wisdom-teeth extraction). So it lo...

PS: Not a single one of my neurological exams since diagnosis has been normal. This is because I have permanent damage from my first two flare-ups. It is a myth that all neurological tests come back "normal" except during active flares. Ongoing inflammation and/or accumulated damage also p...

Here's how I got diagnosed...

On June 26, 2007, I went to bed completely normal and healthy. On June 27, 2007, I woke up completely numb from the waist down on the left side of my body. I went to the ER where they simply told me I had a back injury (in spite of not having injured myself in any way and having zero back pain). Wit...

JH Continues to Blow Me Off...

No returned phone calls, nothing.

I have pretty much ruled out the possibility of ever getting HiCy.

Oh well...

Re: inflammation

Hi did anyone have inflammation showing from their bloodwork. I have had something elevated which pointed to inflammation. Inflammation can mean a lot of things. What's crucial in the diagnosis of MS is a lumbar puncture (i.e. - to see what is going on with your spinal fluid) and a brain/spine MRI ...

I know it's hard, but please try to relax...

...you may not even have MS.

In fact, statistical odds say you probably don't.

But even if you do, it will be OK.

I promise.

Hang in there.

New MS Meetup Group in Boston, MA

Hey, For anyone in or near Boston, MA, I just started a new MS Meetup Group. Unlike other "support groups" in the area, this is NOT run by the NMSS or any other organization, but rather by and for people with MS. The idea is to get together at least once a month for a low-key activity (lik...
