EBV

EBV lives in our bodies for life in B cells - you were infected that's why you have EBV antigens. But the body seems to be able to keep the virus at bay. However, for those with the wrong genes, it appears that something goes wrong. Then the immune system goes wrong and starts causing damage. This is the theory and has to be proved. T Reg cells look as if they play a part. The trials of Rituximab which deplete B Cells should reveal whether this is a way of tackling the problem.

Thanks for the response Ian. I will be paying closer attention to the Rituximab trials now for sure.
