your reference to Lymes has made me remember something that happened to a son of a friend. He was then in his late 20's- young, fit and healthy. He was on an activities break where they undertake projects in the community. He was bitten by a tick. Very shortly afterwards he developed all manner of neurolgical reactions. It took many experts many months to diagnose lupus - another autoimmune disorder. I'm not a medical expert, nor am I saying the tick triggered your ms only that it's not such a ridiculous idea to think about whether it had any connection. After all if Bob can have his worms why can't you think about ticks! (joke)The neuro in Roberts case thought about it long and hard.

Hi muu good to hear u , I just wanted it to be something other than ms so bad i was looking for anything and because of this situation i was in and the fact that i had always deer hunted, i thought this makes more sense than ms but i was wrong. The tests that i went through at the beginning which i'm sure we all have , the whole time i wanted them to find somthing else something i could fight, i did good with this for a long time but now i'm afraid my gloves are off .
Hi Lyon i never actually noticied a tic bit but i had a circular rash on my upper arm around the right time for all of this but my faimly doctor said it was a staph infection, there again in my mind i was trying to make things something they weren't.

Repairing damage
Hold on, Robbie, don't discount the human body. Some damage may be severe, but I think the human body can do LOTS to repair itself, if only the damaging mechanism can be found and stopped.
Hi guys
it's true that this disease raises more questions than providing answers. As far as I recall Lymes was on the cards for Robert but I don't think ever dx. Just the Lupus. Probably enough.
I'm sure all of us ask ourselves the questions- "what did I do?" "what didn't I do?" the whole time. I often mull over it. Personally I think the whole ms thing is a combo catalyst (and that's about as technical as I get!) From my own history I feel certain that hormonal fluctuation is on my combo menu.
Bob,
no competition here- you are the bug man!!
Am tempted to sing "When Ian Bromley has gone away all the helminths come out to play!" (joke)

Hi
I have been healthy all my life. Eat well, don't really exercise much, never had mono or ticks. Never had too many colds or the flu. MS is the first thing that has gone wrong with my health. Who knows what causes MS! I just know that at the time that it happend, I was really stressed out.I also didn't ever get as much sunshine as I would have liked.
It just sucks.

Hi I think there really comes a time when u dont't care about how it came about, don't get me wrong in the beginning i was just like most everybody wanting to try and know everything about this but now it's just here and how it got to where it is nobody knows not even the smartest men and women in the world.
I just watched a movie "The Worlds Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins, what a great, great movie..
Hi muu i downloaded the song that you gave some of the lyrics to and your right it's a bit of a downer but good at the same time..

Robbie,
Glad you liked the song. I dug it out the other day and had another listen. I reluctantly agree that ultimately it makes little difference how we got ms-we just did. There may be no defective gene or cause and effect like smoking and lung disease. But knowing the cause will undoubtedly go a long way in finding if not a cure an effective treatment. In the meantime I'm going to continue to look the black dog of ms straight in the eye and give it a good hard kick from time to time just for the hell of it.

stem cells how important is this to us? Is this the final frontier for disease reserch? will all the other research continue and what will happen to it if stem cells turn out to be the answer? All that money and time.

Thats 50 in reserch years...Despite their promise, however, potential treatments for diabetes, Alzheimer's, spinal cord injury and other devastating disorders are years away from being tested in people.
