Daflon is micronized. The particles are smaller and is absorbed better than diosmin products that are not. Plus Daflon must undergo testing on every batch to make sure the ingredients fall within the acceptable range. Diosmin products are not required to be tested.

Well I guess if liberation is like having one's veins roto-routed then Daflon is akin to pouring Draino into the veins.

I am somewhat concerned by Blossom's post which indicates that Tysabri works in somewhat the same manner as Daflon, by keeping the leukocytes from sticking to the vein walls. We all know what Tysabri can do.

Except Daflon isn't a toxic substance and therefore is unlike drinking Draino (and safer than eating dogie doodoo). You would have to ingest 360 pills at once to reach a lethal dose. A lethal dose of Draino I expect can be achieved at far lower amounts.

Daflon 500mg vs. Tysabri is an interesting proposition though.

The mode of action of Tysabri is described as:

Natalizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody against alpha-4 (α4) integrin, the first drug developed in the class of selective adhesion molecule inhibitors. α4-integrin is required for white blood cells to move into organs; natalizumab's mechanism of action is believed to be the inhibition these immune cells from crossing blood vessel walls to reach affected organs.

This is to be contrasted with Daflon 500mg's described mode of action on microcirculation:

At the microcirculation level, DAFLON 500 mg reduces capillary hyperpermeability and increases capillary resistance by protecting the microcirculation from damaging processes. DAFLON 500 mg reduces the expression of endothelial adhesion molecules (ICAM1, VCAM1), and inhibits the adhesion, migration, and activation of leukocytes at the capillary level. This leads to a reduction in the release of inflammatory mediators, principally oxygen free radicals and prostaglandins (PGE2, PGF2).
This protective and reinforcing action on the venous and lymphatic system, associated with the vasculoprotective effect on the microcirculation, explains the restorative and protective efficacy of DAFLON 500 mg in chronic venous insufficiency and haemorrhoidal disease, both of which are associated with perivascular inflammation and edema.

There is no reported risk of PML with Daflon and it isn't considered immune-suppressive, nor is it a cloned antibody. Query whether it holds the same promise as Tysabri, but witout the risk of PML? And doubly so in combination with liberation? Indeed a consequence of CCSVI research may be to shift the focus of pharmacological intervention in MS from autoimmune suppression to microcirculation and after that who knows what beneficial treatments are out there waiting to be discovered.

Nothing much to report after almost a week. After the first couple of days I can hardly notice that I'm taking anything aside from a warmer hand. So it is well tolerated. Affect on my disability is still unknown at this point. I've had liberation and so I'm sensitive to losing any of my Liber Gains and Improvements. I've experienced no new ones. My forearm feels weaker these last few days, but stronger in other respects. I just finished rocking a leg workout though (in my books) and I seem to be operating better but too early to tell I guess. I'll be keeping close watch on my arm.I've had no appearance of fatigue or cog fog. I feel a bit more energetic than normal and have been having very good sleeps. I checked my blood pressure to see if there was any ill-effect there - 105/73.

One side benefit though is that first day I spent a great deal of time urinating so I think it affects your water retention. Anyway, my stomach got a lot flater without any significant loss of weight. So if anything at least I look better.

Suspect it may also benefit your lower digestion. It's not enough capillary constriction in the head to give you a headache, and although in the Daflon video it shows that T cells that have congregated above valves may pass more easily and inflammation is reduced, I do not take that to mean they can no longer penetrate the vein wall. It's food, not a monoclonal antibody. Plus the dose, especially from a non-micronized version, is microscopic compared to an infusion. Probably the effect is more due to healing the leg valves than anything else. The leg veins may reduce diameter when they are returned to a healed condition, and the may be the only effect that looks like constriction, as their inflamed, swollen state subsides.

Thanks Jugular and 1eye, I read on their claim in the pharmaceutical disclosure that it is supposed to alleviate the "heavy legs" symptom which I do have. Feels like I'm wearing a 100 lb concrete belt. Hopefully it should help.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to flip my experience review (+ 1 week) at this point from neutral to thumbs up.

I've had no ill-effects. On the contrary, I've noticed a significant increase in my energy level and noticable increase in core muscle strength. I used to hit a wall mental fatigue-wise most days in the late afternoon before catching a second wind. No wall this last week in spite of shorter sleeps. I've also had much more days of in-the-zone mental functioning. Just like after my angio, I'm noticing an improvement in my core strength, but not as dramatic as after my surgery. For instance, my knee stability in my bad leg has improved making for a smoother gait. I'm hoping my peripheral strength will soon follow suit with some perks but time will tell. It's still early in the game though so we'll see what things are like a few months out.

Jugular, that is great news. How many tablets are you taking per day? I tried the supplement stuff (diosmin/not micronized) for the last few weeks and nothing. Will try the real deal.

I just took my first Daflon 500 this afternoon. Within an hour, my legs were noticeably better. I'm still stiff, but not as much.

I've had two CCSVI procedures, five major blockages were treated, but I got no improvements. Walking is my only problem. I'll post in a few days with an update.

I haven't been liberated yet and I ordered Daflon a few days ago. So I guess I'll be the guinea pig on that one.

I checked with my GP before ordering Daflon to make sure it would not cause problems with my other meds. In MY case (and everyone's situation is different), he checked several sites and said that Daflon was unlikely to make anything worse.

Since my French is non-existent, I missed the "take it with food" part and took the first pill yesterday afternoon. Within an hour, that "heavy" sensation in my legs was very much lessened. I skipped the dinnertime pill since I took the first one late.

I got an additional bonus! I only had two bathroom trips last night instead of the usual 3-4. I got more than four hours of uninterrupted sleep, something that doesn't often happen. And when I finally work up, I wasn't "four hour stiff", so it was relatively easy to get out of bed.

I can hardly wait to see what happens when I take the full recommended dose -- with food!
