A local beach at a -3.2 foot (-0.98 m) low tide. Not too many people, it seemed like it was just me, the moonsnails (which are about 5.75" (14.6 cm) long) and a few seagulls.

A buddy of mine crashed his brand new altralight about 16 years ago. He didn't get hurt, but had to spend all winter rebuilding it before he could fly again. It was his maiden flight too...kinda. He was just going to taxi it over to show it to his wife and kids, and it lifted off, so he took it up about 50 feet, circled back to the strip, and tried to land, unsuccessfully.
The next year when he got it flying again he used to invite me for a ride. I finally said yes once, but his wife said I was nuts to fly with him, and she talked me out of it.
Since those days he's owned a Cesna 150, and up until last year he's been gliding. I've been invited up on all his flying machines, but never went.
If he gets something else that flies and invites me again, I'm gonna take him up on his offer.
