One of the patient coordinators wanted the name of my GP, which I don't have -- long story --it's like a teaching practice so the docs rotate. I gave her the name of my neuro who is not on board with the treatment. Does Albany talk to the doc or just need a name to bill for insurance?
Thanks
Albany asked my wife to have her GP send her medical history to them. Maybe that is what they are after. Whatever clinic you went to should have your records even if the doctor is not still there.

My husband is going to have a fresh physical with a GP and send those results. I think that I'll get him to ask them to check his blood to see if he might have anything that could interfere with anti-coagulants, although I don't think that he'll have a stent, unless there is no other chance that the vein will stay open.

My first contact w/ Albany was August 31 and was also told that my appointment would be "well into 2011." Last week I received a call and they gave me an appointment for a Doppler sonogram and a consultation w/ Dr. Mandato in mid January, 2011. I was told that if I was going to have treatment, it would probably be 4 to 6 weeks after that.

Congrats to those of you who get appointments. All the best of luck to you.

I have a question re appointment dates if anyone can clarify.

I was told I'm on the list as of July 13, when I checked last - in September - I was told to check back in three months. I shouldn't expect anything until well into 2011
It seems that things are moving along quicker but I haven't received any response to my later e-mails

If you live close-by, it's testing first and treatment a month later. If you are traveling in, it's testing and treatment at the same time. (Does he even do testing if you're traveling in? Last I heard it was straight to the catheter venogram.)

I am puzzled about how the wait list is working. The web site says first come, first served. I went on the list in June and people who went on the list after me are getting procedures dates. I contacted them last month and was told middle of next year. Last week one of my close friends was given a date in December for testing and treatment and definitely went on the list after me. Anyone know whats going on? We are both Canadians...

Hi Tims Friends;

I called Dr. Siskin's office in july 15th, a week later they called and got info and told me that I was on the list.

Late september I called back to inquire about my dates and they told me that they did not have a date yet.

So I emailed Dr. siskin and in Oct he sent an email back saying he will look in to it.

Today I got my call. They wanted to schedule me on Dec. 29th, but I work retail so I asked if they can do it in Jan. Beth told me that they were not scheduling for Jan yet but she said they will call in the next few weeks to schedule me.

They told me that I had to be there the day before for the 1st dopler and then I had to stay another 24 hours after the procedure. They said that there will be another dopler after the treatment. So plan for 3 days.

I am so exited right now and I am jumping up and down as I write this.

Wish me luck

to redfern TO. I'm in exactly the same situation. I contacted them in July, got a confirmation July 13, dr Siskin responded to my e-mail in September telling me to check back in 3 months and haven't heard anything since.
It's even more frustrating since I had my doppler up in Barrie and rated 4/5
so I know a procedure might make a big difference

I was 5/5 at Barrie. I have no problem waiting my turn, however I an getting increasingly concerned because I don't know how the queue is being managed. Is some kind of triage being done? Am I a low priority because I can still walk and work full time?

The Community Care Clinic does procedures in both the hospital and in the clinic. The hospital is more expensive so they book people who have medical insurance (Americans) into it. That list is moving faster than the clinic list. It seems that all patients from out-of-country are booked into the clinic. They seem to be booking for December from people who called in very early June.

Your friend who called after you is the first instance that I have heard of regarding being called out of order. I would be interested to find out the details on that one.

From what I can gather it seems that it will take about 4 months to get through the out-of-country people who called in June so depending on when in June you called you can calculate when to expect an appointment. This is just my estimate. As more doctors join the club all lists will begin to move faster.

Good luck Redfern.

Bruce.
