I_Hate_MS, you'll have to verify with Holly, but yes they're set up to take Medicare. Testing is the doppler ultrasound done at King's County Hospital. Are you close enough that you might want testing only and then waiting on the procedure itself?
Anamishguy, yes, I know someone who is set to be treated by Dr. Makris of AAC in Chicago, in fact I am on pins-and-needles to hear how it goes!

Despite the projected January clearance, your insurance hasn't cleared yet but I figure we still have a little time before rescheduling, the month is yet young. FOR EVERYONE:
1. There is currently one January date still available for treatment with Dr. Sclafani; it's Wednesday, January 12th. Your ultrasound, assuming you need one, would be done Monday, January 10th at 577 Prospect Avenue in Brooklyn. The treatment (venography and angio) would be at 2025 Richmond Avenue in Staten Island. (Brooklyn treatments are Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at this point.) Please PM me immediately if interested, but be aware that in Staten Island we can only currently accommodate patients who are either self-paying or have Medicare.
2. It might help to clarify for all that since Dr. Sclafani is now utilizing two new-to-him facilities we have to wait for the lengthy new insurance credentialing submisstions to clear. Here's what's cleared to-date for Brooklyn (where he's doing almost all his treatments):
Cigna
Comprehensive Care Management Corporation
Empire BC/BS
MagnaCare
Medicaid
Medicare
MultiPlan/PHCS
UHC Empire Plan
FYI it's $10,000 for each procedure under any circumstances. AAC costs
Is the $7500 for everything? No hidden fees, you walk in pay $7500 and get the procedure and walk out. Who prescribes the blood thinner?

I should probably put in as a caveat that there may be some variations in local practice and the overall information I give you here as a general guide should be verified locally. However I believe that a pre-procedure ultrasound, venography and angio are included in the self-pay price for those not covered by insurance that we've been discussing. Anti-coagulants, and also pre-procedure bloodwork to determine things like serum creatinine levels are not.anamishguy wrote:Is the $7500 for everything?
