Does anyone have trouble sleeping?

I have a alot of trouble with chronic pain & it wakes me up every night! I am a side sleeper & just can't learn to sleep on my back. So, I try to go to sleep on my back but wake up a couple of hours later on my side totally numb, in pain & can't move my hands. I have to sit up for a while & let everything clam down before I can go back to sleep, repeat, back to sleep, repeat. You get the picture!

My questions is....does anyone have a Sleep Number bed or a Tempurpedic (sp?) mattress. If so....has it helped? Any other suggestions are welcome too.

Has your doctor given you any meds for pain at night? I currently take 600mg of Neurontin when I get home from work and another 600mg before going to bed. It helps with the pain, especially in my legs.

I do not have a special bed of any kind, I do sleep well most of the time.

I know what it is like not to sleep due to pain, MS fatigue is bad enough WITH a good night's sleep.

I tried Neurontin, it helped, but I hated the side effects. I was like a zombie & got really depressed.

I don't know if it was because I already take Dilantin for epilepsy and the two don't mix or what. I have a follow up the end of the month, maybe something else is available.

Kinch, sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

I have a tempurpedic bed that I bought several years before my MS diagnosis. I love it, but can't tell you if it would help your pain.

I also haven't tried neurontin yet. My pharmacist suggested alpha lipoic acid for the numbness, tingling and burning that I have and I must say it seems to be working.

I take 200 mg 3x day.

Hopefully by now you have a solution...

Sharon....How do you like your Temerpedic Bed? Hubby and I are wanting to buy one with our income tax refund.

I have heard so many good things9 about the beds. Do you really not feel your spouse move at night? I have the restless legs at night.

They really have come down in price since I first started pricing them about 4 years ago.

Hey, whaddya know... my husband and I are thinking about trying out a TempurPedic as well. I usually wake up with a sore back/neck. We're just shying away from the price right now

Kim, I'm and won't answer your question here.

Niko, a great salesman got me to buy this tempurpedic.

I went from store to store and flopped down on all these mattresses one day and finally decided nothing compared to the tempurpedic.

The salesman noted how much people spend for cars and how little time they spend in them vs. how much they agonize about buying an expensive mattress when in fact they spend more time "using" the mattress than the car.

In most cases, a lot more time.

Anyway, when I bought one it was essentially "no risk". They give me a 3 month trial with a full refund if I didn't like it.

If they're still doing that, they'll come and get it if you don't like it and you owe nothing, not even to pay them to come and pick it up.

Matter of fact, I'm off to use it now.

I always thought I would buy direct from the factory. There is a Sleepy Hollow here that sells Tempurpedics.......I guess I will just go take a nap on one there........Then see how there cost compares to the factory....
