Lib, if you don't believe me you might try to contact Nord on CPN: nothing more to say except that you don't take antibiotics for a cold. If it isn't a cold, doxy should have cleared it up by now, unless your doc is giving you sub-standard meds.

Liberation, Why not stockpile enough antibiotics to carry you through, before embarking on treatment? Gather enough to hold you over in case there's a delivery delay, and then start taking them. Hold back a two-week supply and pretend you do not have that 'secret' back-up plan. Order more abx BEFORE you need them, not when you are running out . This way, you'll never have to worry about not having enough.

Your doctor sounds smart. Once you are on this therapy, you should not stop and start, stop and start. If another antibiotic is really needed for some other illness, many of them can be ADDED into the Wheldon/Vanderbilt protocol. Your doctor will know if they can be taken together. And your doctor will surely tell you if it's really mandatory to discontinue taking this protocol for a short period of time, so as not to interfere with another antibiotic, if that's what your doctor must do to help you recover from something else.

Antibiotics do not help with the flu. Antibiotics do not help with ear aches. Doctors know this and should not be prescribing antibiotics when they can't be of any help, anyway. It sounds like your 'almost a cold' is just a reaction to killing off the cpn in your system. It also sounds like the reaction most people have to taking NAC, which is why we call it 'NAC flu'.

Liberation,
I'm just finishing my second month of a three month purchase of Benebiotics. I don't think they were worth the money and I've found others which are much better and cheaper. I didn't do much research before purchasing them, but I still wanted to give them a shot. Not very impressed.

Hi Liberation,
My LLMD had placed me on several different regimens over three last few years, all recommended through the CPN.org site's protocols. I can't say if any have worked better than others, but I do know that some have been easier to tolerate than others. I think that's based on individual's tolerances. I've also found that upping my probiotic doses while on abx has turned out to be key. I've been really focusing on my diet, trying to eliminate any yeast promoting foods. I think both in conjunction have helped the abx protocol to be more effective.

Hi Liberation,
Sorry for the delay in response... I didn't realize you had asked a follow-up question about probiotics. I've had good luck with a few I've gotten though Vitacost... they are Vitacost Super 8 Acidophilus ProBiotic -- Vegetarian Capsules and Vitacost Probiotic 15-35 -- 35 billion CFU** - Vegetarian Capsules. I've also been on and off Theralac with good resukts, but it's a little pricey for me to continue on a monthly basis. My LLMD also suggests staying on Saccharomyces Boulardii for the prevention of C Dif. I get the Jarrow Formulas Saccharomyces Boulardii plus MOS -- 5 billion - Vegetarian Capsules. I take them them twice a day, though I should probably be taking them more often. Too many pills, not enough hours in the day!
Jen

p.s. - Disclaimer - I have no stock in any of these products and I'm simply recommending them based on my own personal experience.

Hi MacKintosh:

I am dx with MS in 2010 am on Rebif.
Recently I got a nasty sinus infection, which I have never had before.
I was prescribed Amoxicillin and I feel great! My MS symptoms seem to have diminished. I thought I was crazy but goggled, 'MS & Amoxicillin' and found this thread.
Do you know of any Dr. in the Chicago area that is familiar with the Antibiotic therapy for MS and perhaps would test for CPn and prescribe these antibiotics?

Anything helps!
Thankx
