Hi FF
I am so very happy to hear that. I have the same question as Lyon...what do they think was the reason for MRTC's now? Do you feel more MSy now?? So many questions.

Thanks Lyon, Sh8un and Ewizabeth!

I will ask this question to the doctor next week during my next appointment.

I still don't have an answer for this one.

Until we get all our questions about MRTC's answered, I can tell you what I did differently the second time I was tested (although it could be useless information and probably doesn't explain why I tested positive the second time). Like I mentioned before, I stopped taking minocycline before being retested. I stopped taking it 23 days before being tested a second time. I also stopped taking all the supplements I was taking one week before being retested, even if I really don't think that this made a difference. I just didn't want to find out later that perhaps a supplement that I was taking could mask the MRTC's. Also, I didn't want someone telling me that perhaps I was taking something that was masking the MRTC's that Opexa is looking for. But, personally, I really don't think that this made a difference.

However, from the brief amount of time I spend reading on minocycline and the impact that minocycline can have on myelin basic protein (MBP), proteolipid protein (PLP) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) reactive T cells, I personally wouldn't be surprised if minocycline reduced my chances of testing positive the first time.

But, it could be something else. Maybe the clinic did something differently. Maybe my blood was immediately sent to Texas the second time but not the first time. I really don't know.

Maybe it was just a period of time when the MRTC's that Opexa is looking for could be more easily identified in my blood. I really don't know.

I ALWAYS feel "MSy"!!!!! But, I was feeling much worse the first time I was tested. I had a relapse during the last days of September and I hadn't recovered by Nov 14, when I got tested the first time. I haven't had a relapse since and I felt better the second time I was tested.

Of course I will give you an update if they can make a vaccine for me. Goodluck Ewizabeth!

Like was mentioned before, it might have nothing to do with your system or changes you've made but maybe changes Opexa has made behind the scenes.

We have no way of knowing but I'm sure it's obvious to Opexa which stations are having better and worse mrtc detection results and I imagine Opexa had done their homework before the trial began and has a pretty good idea what to attribute those lower numbers to.

Like anything else which is just starting, I'd be surprised if there weren't problems in the beginning which smooth out with time and experience.

That’s true. This could also be an explanation.

Is it my explanation that you don’t get? I wrote it pretty fast but it wasn't really an explanation. I don't have the answer to your question so I just mentioned what I did differently the second time I was tested. I simply included that in case some people were curious.

I'll be asking your question next week during my next appointment. However, perhaps it's too early for the doctor to truly be able to answer this question.

I just meant thnax for explaning what you did differently. I also meant that I don't get this whole MRTC's thing. I thought that all MSers should make them, especially during those times that they think there is a relapse but I guess not. I don't get MRTC's.

Hey, now that you mention it, "they" say that ALL people (even non MS people) make mrtc's. Yet they cant get mrtc's from people with a disease known for mrtc's?

I think it could be all sorts of things-- available technology, lab and transportation procedures... At least I hope so, because those issues can be addressed in the near future by procedural and technological imporvements on the lab level.

Neda,

I'm sorry I misinterpreted your statement. I thought that you either meant that you didn't understand what I wrote or that you didn't understand MRTC's. On second thought, not understanding MRTC's does make more sense :)

During my appointment a few days ago, I asked the doctor if he knew why I tested negative the first time and positive the second time. He was unable to answer this question.
