Coimbra explains his D Protocol - MUST WATCH/lLISTEN

Post by PointsNorth »

I started the protocol in September 2014. Not knowing correct dosing I started at 40Kiu/day and worked my way up to 100kKiu (too much) recently. Based on my weight I shoud be at about 65Kiu. My diary helped confirm this was the best dosing level. STUDY/UNDERSTAND THE PROTOCOL WELL BEFORE UNDERTAKING.

http://mscure.aussieblogs.com.au/the-bl ... eatment-3/

My summary:
OZZIE mother's D experience from her blog (actual Coimbra patient)
40,000iu/day
* no bananas
* calcium - no dairy, soy
* no Voltaren or Ibruprofen
* 2.5 litres water per day (to eliminate calcium she says)
* Taking B12(1000mcg) B2(200mg) & Omega 3 DHA

She says that she's had MS 15 years but she doesn't seem that badly affected all things considered.
Over 2013. Her words: Dramatic improvement in strength/balance/coordination as observed by her neurologist. And no new lesions over 12 months.
Greatly improved incontinence. "90%" improvement in fatigue

Another MRI August 2014 no report as yet
Also . . .
Dr. C told her that children should take 1000iu per 5kg
Dr. C told another patient on 50Kiu/day who had a relapse on the protocol to increase to 100Kiu for 5 days. The relapse resolved

After a relapse in 2010 Oz mother had drop foot and weakness in rt. Leg. Now completely resolved. She partially attributes improvement to Physio but mostly to the protocol.
She now says she considers herself 100% improved. 1-1/2 years on protocol.

PointsNorth, I watched the YouTube presentation and so thanks ... however I do have a question and that is why don't you take ibuprofen? ... as at least for motor neuron diseases like the one I have (CIDP) as well as ALS there's been recent posted research (ALS Forums) showing that high dose ibuprofen has a positive effect on the specific pro-inflammatory signals that may help those who have certain motor neurological diseases. Thanks !!

Hi Harry,

I don't know why ibuprofen is singled out. I too have read about ibuprofen's positive upsides. I use for stiff muscles myself and haven't avoided while on the protocol. Make sure you are working with your doctor before starting the protocol.

Pain killers are a problem. Ibuprofen affects your kidneys, acetaminophen your liver, opiates your bowels, aleve I don't know but it hurts my stomach (take with food), and so on... You could try alternating the ones you can stand...

Hi, PointsNorth, I added the english subtitles to that video with dr Coimbra (and Roberta, the australian patient, who has the blog, translated it in english)...I live in Italy and I am Coimbra's patient...In this moment I have 3 years with his treatment...actually my next appointment with dr Coimbra is next month and this month on 30 I will do my MRI..I am sorry to see that u're doing this without adeguate medical supervision... I know patients who had intoxication with high dose D3 and I think u should try to go in Brasil..
It is important to understand that doses of vitamin D are specifically calculated by Dr. Coimbra based on individual patient parameters during the medical examination (U must not take in consideration only the rule 1000 ui /kg, because, as his patient, I assure u, things are different many times).....also, Roberta said that there is a dr. in Canada, too...think about it.... :)

Causes of intoxication include poor compliance with advised preventive measures, preparation of cholecalciferol by unskilled personnel, incidental uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, pyelonephritis (to which patients with neurogenic urinary retention are particularly prone), concomitant ingestion of high doses of vitamin C, and treatment carried out without medical supervision at the patient's own risk without recommended diet, hydration and/or laboratory tests.

Thanks D,

I have made contact with Canadian naturopath. Would love to go to Rio but it's not going to happen anytime soon. The naturop said it could take 2 years.

Yes, one kidney stone after taking 8000 IU daily for 1 1/2 years. But I was not following the Coimbra Protocol – at that time I was not taking vitamin K2, or any of the other supplements he recommends (except magnesium). In my opinion, it is a big mistake simply to add large amounts of vitamin D.

From the Coimbra patients I've spoken to (2) + myself no one has experienced this problem.

A local Naturopath is the first doctor in North America to offer treatment.

I have been taking 40,000 IU daily for about 2 months and prior to that, was taking 20,000 IU daily for just over 1 1/2 years. I just had blood work done and everything is excellent. And overall, although not symptom free, I do feel a lot better than I used to. Never had any kidney stones.

Keep in mind that people get kidney stones that don't take a vitamin D supplement.
