Vitamin D test offer

Post by lyndacarol »

GrassrootsHealth has a special offer through March 31 – 25% off a one-time vitamin D test, only $48.75 (plus $5 shipping).http://www.grassrootshealth.net/march-2 ... cial-offer

If you wish to be a one-time participant (rather than participate in their five-year study), place your order for a single-payment only test kit (the last option).

The test involves a prick of the finger and putting 3 drops of blood on a card that you return by mail. I am not brave, but managed to do it. I received my results by e-mail in less than a week – 24 ng/mL (NOT at all optimal!).

Thanks for posting Lynda. I took the similar test through the Vitamin D council. Perhaps they use grassroots? I didn't like pricking my finger as well but think of people with diabetes who must prick their fingers multiple times per day.

I also have the VDR Taq gene. I have been unresponsive to high doses of vitamin D.

Can you give me more information about the testing for this VDR Taq gene? What is the name of the test? Is this only available through 23andme.com? Who ordered the test (GP, or a specialist)? Cost?… Anything else I need to know.

I discovered that I have the VDR gene by doing the 23andme test. You can order it yourself. Another person that I know with MS also has the VDR gene. Perhaps all people with MS have this gene? It wouldn't surprise me!

When I ordered the test a few years ago it cost me $99.

I noticed this posting 4 or 5 weeks ago and I went to the Grassroots website and ordered the test. I think it was about 50 dollars. Received the package in the mail, took the test, and mailed it back. I received my results in about a week. 49 ng/mL perfect for me. I recommend this to anyone thinking about their Vitamin D levels. I take 9,000 IUs a day vitamin D, Copaxone, best bet diet, no symptoms diagnosed 11 years ago.
