Kind of itching?

Post by lgreczylo »

Ive read that itching is another wonderful part of ms. I have been experiencing crazy itching all over, mainly my arms but does effect legs and scalp also. Just had some liver tests done to rule out any liver issues. It might sound strange but I am really hoping it is the ms and not some new health issue. Anyone have experience with all over itching??

Symptoms vary from person to person. I had some minor itching in just a few areas. You should probably go see your doctor.

Thanks ElliotB the doctor checked out my liver function and everything looks ok so now to check meds. I was hoping for an easy answer of it being ms.

I should have included in my post above that my itching lasted quite a while (about a year) and then totally disappeared and has not come back. I believe it was from my MS but who knows. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I got to wondering if I had MS thanks to serious itchiness I never experienced before.
About two months of it really strong, it was insane.
I still get some on and off, esp when I do some stuff outside in the 100+ degree heat....
Also had a lot of other symptoms at about the same time and that made me dig in and get educated.
My reading shows about 5% of MS patients get the itchy.
MRI scheduled for next week though since it has been months since it started I am thankfully feeling better yet not 100%.

I am so happy you are feeling better LizardKing. I hope you get some answers soon. I always find not having answers worse than knowing exactly what I am dealing with.

Thank you.
MRI tomorrow, and while I do not want to have MS I am hoping it shows MS.
More than two decades is long enough to not have answers.
Worst case if not MS then proof of something else.

I tell you what, this itchy is insane, while now not severe all day it does come and go
and is very annoying.

when i had the worst itching, i had recently switched b complex and the new version had much more folic acid in it. i asked for a test of folic acid in particular and it turned out i had an extremely high serum folic acid level.
i switched to another b-complex product and the itching went away and never came back. then much later i realized i was again using a b complex product with a high folic acid composition, but with no itching. i had done a LOT of work on correcting poor nutrient status in the intervening years.
my conclusion, an unknown co-factor was missing early on. later, i had the right things in place and my body was able to properly manage the higher intake of folic acid.
my mother had a similar itch when pregnant. i have heard of this phenomenon in other expecting mothers as well. interesting that folic acid is routinely prescribed to pregnant women, to help protect against neural tube defects. a missing cofactor could be part of the reason this itch is only experienced by some.
wow 10 yrs of post history on folic acid and itching specifically http://www.thisisms.com/forum/jimmylegs ... %20%20itch*
i love the oldest post in that set of results. that was me in one of my best recovery moments since dx. typing normally again to this day. modified klenner protocol FTW
