For some reason that I don't understand, experiments with mice always get into the headlines, and real advances in MS remain always obscure. Maybe it is just because mice doctors always use words like "MS cure" and things like that.

Since a couple of months it seems quite clear to me that MS is produced by EBV-infected B-cells. Millions of articles have been written on this topic since 2003, but none of them has ever been in the news.

Something happened today that illustrates why you can't infer how one critter will respond to something that was tested on another species. My mother-in-law's cat Charlotte was licking an Easter Lily plant on the kitchen table. Well it turns out that Lilies of all types are extremely poisonous to cats. Eating even 2 leaves can cause kidney failure and death within a few days. But dogs that eat Lilies may get a belly ache but they don't die from it. So what works with one species may not work with another.

Fortunately Charlotte was taken to the vet and pronounced ok. Apparently she didn't ingest enough to cause a problem.
