For wheelchairers, how do you pull up pants after toileting?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

For wheelchairers, how do you pull up pants after toileting?

Post by LeenieSD »

After toileting, how do you pull up your underwear and pants (by yourself) if you can't stand long enough or have sufficient balance to stand unsupported? Is there a piece of equipment you use to help, such as a standing pole or a toilet bench that allows you to lean side to side to scoot up your pants? I'm having a heck of a time figuring this out. Thanks for your help!

Would toilet safety rails help?

I am lucky enough to have help with this now. My hubby pulls me up to a horizontal bar as I can still weight bear a little or my caregiver and I do the "lean to and fro" dance on the w/c and toilet. Stretchyyyy pants and underpants help also. My caregiver says the medical stores that sell clothing have some sort of special pants for this type of thing.

Take care.
