We Survived!!!! able to connect through my air card, but not much battery left on laptop so this will be quick. we are good, there is extensive damage in my neighborhood, but we have just slight damage to our crib, LOL. Lots of trees down and power will more than likely be many days away. The wind was almost as bad as Rita, but we just don't have the trees we did at our house when it hit. No flooding in our area. Just minor in and around Beaumont. The humming bird is still w/ us, but he isn't doing so well. We'll see, Dalton thinks he has a new pet
. The wind is still around 35 mph and raining it's butt off. I will post some pictures later and maybe a video. I have checked w/ all my and Greta's family and they are safe also. Thanks for the prayers and concern, will check back later. arti out

Sorry Bob, but no, not me man!! oh and yes we have a generator going.
Funny how the media always chooses to interview the village idiot. What a great representative for Texas. These people are obviously throwed off.
We are doing good, it is just so wet. I need to get busy cleaning the yard and trying to restore some kinda normalization to the farm here, LOL. I guess "cabin fever" is starting yo set in.
Well, I don't know if I have told y'all , but the little hummingbird didn't make it
Dalton was alittle upset for this is the first "pet" as he called it that has died, so we tried to explain all that to him.
I guess I'm falling back into the whole no sleep mode again cause I have had like 5 hrs worth in the last 2 nights. It is now 3:40 am. Well TTYL, my battery is getting low, arti out

Arti,
When I was very young living in Chicago, I was so concerned about a sick bird in my yard that my parents tried to help me nurse it back to health. It didn't make it and I was devastated. I was SO devastated that they went out and bought me a parakeet. It helped a lot. (hint hint)
Glad you are okay.
Since the media will be crawling in Beaumont and surrounding areas for a while, Arti, I think your window of opportunity is still open.
Ike is coming to see us in Cincinnati today. Gonna pour on the Bengals game. In comparison, we'll take it- no complaints.

Hey Arti-
thinking of you and your family, man! Hope things are drying out and you're able to clean up around your place. I was watching CNN on jetblue coming home from back east, and saw your area...yikes!
Our home flooded 5 years ago....it was really stressful, no flood insurance, lost the first floor of our house and lived in it while we remodeled (we weren't in a flood zone, but it rained non-stop for three weeks and the ground water came up thru the slab foundation.) It was before Jeff's dx, and I know the stress took it out of him.
Try to get some sleep....maybe some knock out meds? An occasional clonazepam helps Jeff when he's too wired to sleep.
stay safe,
AC

Well Gustav may be a prick, but Ike blows big time. We got some trailer winds from Ike up north here that usually stay in the 1000' to 1500' above the ground range. Well it got real sunny and it pushed it all down and we got sustained 60 mile and up to 80 mph gusts for about 4 hours. I haven't had power (along with about 200,000 others around Dayton) since Sunday at about 2:00 in the afternoon, and still don't, and it's 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Probably won't be back until the weekend we're hearing. So we got some wind, but no rain and no water. Nothing like a hurricane, not even remotely, but people around here are absolutely freaking out without power. You'd think it was armageddon to listen to the radio. Oh well, loss of a little food in the fridge is nothing compared to having your home underwater or loss of life.
We were downtown watching a huge music festival called the X-fest. It was at the fairgrounds and a good friend has a house to where we could almost see in, but could hear really well from the front porch. Well as soon as the whole line (there had to be about 40-50 of them) of Porta-Johns blew over, ewwww!, we figured we'd better get inside. I can't imagine being one of the folks that was in one of those when it tipped
