I went on a vacation to Alaska
Hi gang,
Thought I post a link to my Picasa web album so you can see some of my photos from my trip to Alaska. I went the first week of August and I was beautiful, and cool. It felt great after summer in the south. I had actually had a relatively mild excerbation in July, with my first ever pins and needles feeling in my left hand and increased numbness on the left side. My neuro perscribed oral predisone and got me over it before I left for vacation.

Bob,
What a great diary. It must be a real treasure for you. I'm really jealous of the 19.8 cent per gallon gas. We also went to North Pole. A real tourist trap for those that want to buy X-mas orniments. They do have a really cool Santa Clause statue though. Do you have any of the movies from their trip above the Artic Circle? Those would be a really cool. And whats up with your grandma "speed" calculation?
I wish I had made it to the ocean like they did. We (me, my sister and mom), flew in to Fairbanks because my brother is currently stationed at Eielson AFB outside Fairbanks. We did take the Alaska Railroad down to Denali where most of my pictures were taken.
You really need to go if you can. I have wanted to ever since I was a teenager in the 70's. The one thing the pictures can't portray is the vastness of the place. As an example, the picture of Mt. McKinley with the flag in the foreground was taken from approximately 35 miles away.
I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I had a ton of fun taking them and I hope they inspire you to go to Alaska!

Glad to see you back, GeoGuy. I wondered where you'd gone. Missed you.
I hope to eventually get to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis. That is my number one vacation wish. I understand that you take a chance of not seeing it and that fall is the best time to try. Im sure I cannot imagine the beauty. One day maybe...
Your pictures were wonderful.

Glad you enjoyed them. Please feel free to forwward the link to anyone you know that would get pleasure from seeing them.
No Aurora in Alaska but I did see it once in northern Wisconsin when I was at an Audubon Ecology Camp back in 1978. It was like a giant green shimmering curtian across the night sky.
