For those who got MRV CDs from Stanford

Island Girl just commented to me that Dr Dake has about had it with the MRV it takes 6,000 images to make a total!! uploading these things to his office computer from the lab so he can see how people are is the bottleneck for him....and if he wants the image turned so he can see another angle it takes another 45 minutes for a techie to do it.. He is actually thinking of going to CT he told IG. total hear say but I am thikning this exchange of informqtion here with one hour uploads sort of tells the tale.....

I have been in email contact with Dr Dake, and he has also strongly recommended I go with a CT instead of the MRV.

My only concern is that the CT images in Zamboni's paper clearly show a Catheter. I am a BIG fan of the fact the MRV is far less invasive. Unless the Catheter is NOT required for a suitable CT?

Hi.

What is shown on Zamboni papers is selective venography, not CT scan. CT is not invasive at all, except the dye injection. But even the catheter does not really hurt that much, as far as I have read. It is a great source of discomfort, though.

Amazingly and on the third attempt the huge file has uploaded to the dropbox server. Now what?!

I just double clicked on the zipped file and the computer is connecting...

I had CT scan. You get iodine put into you via an injection. (that makes you feel all flushed and makes you feel as if you need to pee).
The actual CT scan is about 5 minutes long.

Alex, when you log into http://www.getdropbox.com You should see your file listed there.

Edit: fixed instructions
1. Log in
2. Next to your file, there will be a small blue arrow pointing down, click on that and a menu will pop up
3. Select 'Move'
4. Choose the 'Public' folder and click the 'Move file' Button
5. Click on the 'Public' folder to see your file in there
6. Next to your file, there will be a small blue arrow pointing down, click on that and a menu will pop up
7. Select 'copy public link' and it will show you the URL that people can use to download the file

Hi,

This file seems determined not to reveal its secrets! I got the file into the public folder but the only options in the blue arrow drop down menu are 1) download zip 2) restore files. I've tried both options and got an error message at the end of option 1 whilst option 2 told me there were no files to restore.

mmmmm

If you click on the 'Public Folder' you should see your MRV file in there, right? The MRV file should have the option for 'Copy Public Link'

If I click on the blue-arrow menu for the 'Public' folder, that's where I see 'downlload zip' and 'restore files'.

If I click on the Public folder to open it, I can see the files that I moved into that folder.

Let me know if that works

Sou is right CT is just iodine in a IV, Zamboni showed venograms NOT Ct pictures. And LR describes it the way I felt it too...it is fast and easy just an IV

Good luck Daniel! I believe I did everything as requested by the various different programmes. I'm going to try to commission the radiologist at St George's...as the files are just huge with thousands of images...

Alex, if you put the CD in the drive, then open up 'My Computer', Right-Click on the CD and select 'AutoPlay' from the menu that comes up.. it should start an 'eFilm Lite' application that will show you your MRI images. you can right-click on the left or right image and another menu will pop up allowing you to select one of many different scans that they took.

I've got some DICOM pictures!!!
I went back into DICOM and somehow brought up some scans on a different CD and here are some images which show, I believe, a gadolinium enhanced jugular with stenosis below the ear area.

I remember the scans which Prof Dake showed and they were, I think, of a frontal view with both jugulars visible but I'm not sure my memory serves me correctly on that front. So far I've only seen side views of the body. Will try to keep working through on DICOM...
