For those who got MRV CDs from Stanford

I was wondering if you'd be willing to share the MRV CD contents with the community? It might be helpful while we're trying to 'recruit' new doctors if we can share some of the scans with them along with the studies? What does everyone think?

If so, I'd be more than willing to help get the CDs converted to ISOs and show you how to upload them online.

For Windows Computers:
You can create ISO's with the 'ImgBurn' program:

1. Pop in your CD
2. Run ImgBurn
3. Select 'Create Image File From Disc'
4. Select a destination with the Folder/Magnifying glass icon
5. Call it 'MRVDisc.iso' and click Save

For Macintosh Computers:
Open up Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
1. Select your CD/DVD drive from the left side
2. Click on the 'New Image' icon at the top
3. Under 'Image Format' select: 'CD/DVD Master'
4. Under 'Encryption' select: 'None'
5. Type in 'MRVDisc' in the 'Save As' field
6. Choose your Desktop
7. Click on 'Save'

The created ISO will probably be very large, and it might help if you compress ('zip') the file before uploading.

You can upload the files online by using http://www.getdropbox.com or http://www.sugarsync.com/products/sync_pricing.html (Free option at bottom of page)

Thanks for this. Unfortunately I don't want to convert or tamper with the existing CDs and I don't think I can upload any of them usefully either onto my hard drive because of memory issues or a website as one needs DICOM viewer to see anything. And even then you can't make out much very useful. I really think I need the services of a radiologist who is familiar with DICOM.

Is the idea with the ISO creator to rewrite the CDs? It sort of sounds like it from the above...
I ain't no tech specialist and am nervous of damaging the data before the radiologist has a look. Sven said they had every imaginable software at the St Georges which is a neurologist specialist centre so they must be familiar with magnetic resonance imaging software.

The software is to create a copy of the data on the CD, it is not possible to change/delete the data already on the CD.

The CDs I have of my MRI's come with whatever software is needed to view the scans, I just assumed that every MRI would be similar?

Do any windows pop up when you insert the CD into your computer allowing you to view the scans?

Don't worry the existing cd's are unharmed! It's just copying to a format to share.

I can do mels soon anyway.

No, no windows pop up.

However I have downloaded DICOM and have seen small thumbnail images of the scans. But they aren't big enough and nothing happens when one double-clicks on the thumbnail nor when one presses ANY of the software's command buttons...

So I had a bash, selected new folder, but after I selected the CD drive with the CD patient data in it the ISO creator gave me an error message saying "Can't add drive".

Hmmm maybe this is an inappropriate program. I will find another solution for windows and edit my initial post shortly...
