Hello!
I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced anything like this due to MS. Probably for about the past 3 months or so my eyes are extremely dry when I wake up. It feels like I have been sleeping with my eyes open all night long. I have to blink several times before I can see anything after I wake up in the morning. I have tried a humidifier and this does help but I have never had to use a humidifier regularly for anything like this before. I was just wondering if this was another weird MS symptom that anyone else had experienced before.

Keep in mind, you may have been Dx'ed with MS but that doesn't prevent anyone from developing other age related"

Think of all the TV ads you see for eye related OTC drugs IE: Visine.
I personally have never heard of dry - eyes related to MS........but. How about other drugs you take regularly. I could see that being a common problem.
Probably the biggest one commonly used would be allergy meds. Particularly antihistamines. This is a very common side effect of many of those meds.

You should definitely see your doctor and tell him/her about your eyes. It may be an allergy, it may be something new in your house that is irritating, but it also may be Sjogren's syndrome. Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune reaction to the tear ducts and sometimes the saliva glands. It can occur on its own, but is also seen in MS, lupus, and RA patients. Get it checked out. There are probably some special eye drops available and perhaps other medications that the doctor can prescribe. Hope it gets better, and let us know how it goes.
