Spoke to the MS nurse today

She is coming on Wednesday next week to help me with my first Rebif injection. Seems like it took forever to get to this point. (actually it was about a month and a half) I have been so anxious to get this over with so I don't have to worry anymore about how I will react. I hope it goes good and I don't have too bad of a reaction. I am excited and nauseous at the same time. I know that right now this is the best that I can do to help myself so I am willing to put up with a little pain. I've read a lot about the methods that people use to pre and post medicate. Was wondering if some of you could share what has worked best for you. I will be using the Rebiject II at least to start with. Any comments will help. Thanks

In addition to any dicussion you may have found on the Rebif forum, you may want to look into some of the threads on the Avonex forum such as this thread where I've posted some of my experiences with Avonex and Ibuprofen which I've found to be more helpful than Tylenol in counteracting the side effects.

I've been on the stuff for almost two years now, but I can still remember the anticipation anxiety about that first shot.

A couple of observations from my personal experience.

1. Whoever decided that the arms were a good target area has never had Rebif injected into his arm.

2. If you have a spouse, partner, pet, friendly neighbour who can handle a needle, leave the Rebiject in its case. Since I stopped using that thing and my wife just skewers me bare-handed I find that site iritation is much reduced.

3. Relax. In almost two years I've only had nasty after-shocks twice.
