Gadolinium can stay in the body for a long time, possibly permanently, meaning patients may experience symptoms immediately after as little as one MRI contrast agent exposure or many years after exposure.
The researchers detected gadolinium in skin and kidney specimens. Until recently, doctors didn’t think it was possible for gadolinium to escape from the contrast agent solution, according to Wagner. These findings challenge a lot of assumptions that have been held in medicine since 2006.

Metal in MRI contrast agents may cause serious health problems
Re: Metal in MRI contrast agents may cause serious health problems
I can attest to the point that gadolinum (Gd) stays in the body. Years ago my family went through a lead contamination scare instigated by a dishonest naturopath. It had been 10 years since my last MRI with Gd contrast. All members of my family were given the chelation agent 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) and collected our urine for the following 12 hours or so. A urinalysis was then conducted looking for various metals, e.g., lead, aluminum, mercury, and Gd as well as several others. My urinalysis was the only one to show Gd contamination.
Subsequent to this experience, an MRI tech told me that all Gd contrast agents dechelate. This means that regardless of the structure of the various carrier molecules, all Gd contrast agents will release free Gd which will accumulate in the body.

After every MRI I give to my wife for 2 days activated Carcoal, MSM, Nigela Sativa (thymoquinone for the kidneys) and other natural chelators with plenty of water along with her daily regimen that includes many Gd chelators

Here's an older post from 2015. Gadolinium was found to accumulate in brain tissue.
