If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

joint pain and MS

Post by Jill »

i recently developed joint pain (ankles, wrists, fingers, toes). it is affecting my mobility and functioning. my doctor said that joint pain goes along with MS, but i have never read anything about it being a common symptom of MS. i'm curious if anyone else has experienced this? i was told it is nerve pain caused by the ms. i'm taking anti-inflamatories which are not helping at all, and recently began taking meds for nerve pain...waiting to see if it helps.

Joint pain

Post by Pj »

Hi Jill,
Sorry to hear about your joint pain. I have had joint pain on and off. Mine is usually one side or the other (shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers all on right or left) and it goes as quickly as it comes.

At worst, my neuro put me on Tegretol to "settle down" the nerve activity--it didn't work. I came off the Tegretol after 2 months and the pain eventually stopped. One day I woke up and it was gone.

I have lots of joint pain and a really swollen finger, but haven't been diagnosed yet. My understanding is that when your immunine system is down, anything can happen :(

Interferons, Arthritis and Bursitis

Post by Shayk »

Hi all

If any of you are on interferons there's a small possibility that what you're experiencing might be a side effect. There have been a few cases reported in the literature.
