I was told I have PPMS. I'm being tested for Lyme but if it comes back negitive, I'm going to try to get my doc to put me on antibiotics anyway. And if he won't I'll find a way to get the drugs myself online and just go to him for followups.

I'm not very good at sorting thru all the medical info so forgive me if you have to repeat something that is allready posted elsewhere.

So...

Why should I try antibiotics if this is MS? (I need a reason for the doc to agree to this.)

Which antibiotics and what dosage for an average sized woman?

How long before you noticed an improvement in MS symptoms?

How long do you need to keep taking the antibiotics?

I really think I do have Lyme or something other than MS because I've had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for years without being able to find a cause. And a stiff neck.

You said that you are not good at sorting through medical information but you MUST learn all that you can about antibiotics and MS so that you can talk intelligently with your physician about prescribing this for you. Go to the website CPn Help You will be able to print out an abundance of information to give to your doctor. Make sure you review the site as there is so much good information there to help you. No. 2 is a pdf file which you can print out to show your doctor. It works on the theory that MS is caused by a infection, usually of chlamydia pneumonae. Most people come into contact with this in their lifetime,but you have to have the right genetic markers to develop MS.

Dosages are also given but you must be aware that you need to take the antibiotics for several years because a chronic infection of Cpn takes a long time to get rid of. However, I noticed an improvement in my symptoms very quickly. was positive for Cpn but absolutely negative for Lyme. I finished the regime two years ago and have not had an MS episode for over six years and have had some of my lesions disappear, which is unheard of for someone with SPMS.
