Re: So now that they've scientifically "proven" that DMD's
Another problem with a historical control group is that MS detection rate has gone up. Until commercial use of MRI, less mild cases were detected overally. So with that in mind both treated and sametime untreated group ought to have more milder cases. So now you tell me, which makes more of a differ...

Re: So now that they've scientifically "proven" that DMD's
BTW, progression has never been an endpoint in MS drug trials because it is so difficult to quantify, as many patients progress so slowly that each stage of drug trials would by necessity take 5+ years to complete. Neither the drug companies, because of the costs, or patients, because of the perilo...

Re: smoking and ccsvi
If it helps, smoking increases risk of thrombosis, especially around such a procedure. Is that really worth it? (And before you ask, I used to be a chain smoker. It is definitely possible to quit, even if it might not last for forever.) It's tough to quantify the benefits of a known carcinogen. In ...

If your MHS is fine then maybe that explains why you like the simplicity and directness of the EDSS. If however you can still walk fine but feel like you're slowly losing your mind while being a spectator of your life rather than controlling it, then the EDSS doesn't even tell you that you're ill.

Re: Wheelchair Kamikaze post on developments in progressive
@1eye, sorry for excessive (ab)use of acronyms. ITMTX was supposed to be "intrathecal Methotrexate". I think the rest is obvious, even if one doesn't agree with the concepts. :p I do agree that between two distant points in time, MS generally only has one direction, which is downhill. This...

Re: Wheelchair Kamikaze post on developments in progressive
If I read the papers correctly, these follicles are observed in roughly 40-60% of SPMS cases. I think that's also adding new questions, such as What makes F- (i.e. those who don't have the follicles) SPMS patients get worse? What's the mechanism of ITMTX in PwPPMS? I agree that this needs to be inve...

Hi! Is not shingles and Chicken Pox not Epstein Barr related? If so you wont find many that havent had one or the other. Fiona Shingles and Chicken Pox are caused by Varicella Zoster Virus. Both VZV and EBV belong to the group of Human Herpes Viruses, but they're not the same. Both viruses reach a ...
